It’s not easy to define love compatibility. Ultimately, a loving relationship depends on the couple sharing many of the same qualities and passions.
It’s possible to determine compatibility based on how well you understand and appreciate the other person’s interests, ambitions, and motivations. It measures how well you and your mate communicate and work together.
But there are different ways to gauge your fit with a potential partner: scientific, psychological, and astrological testing methods. Sure, you and your partner seem compatible, but is there a way to be sure it’s not just the honeymoon phase? If you want to find out if you’re a true match as a couple, there are three popular methods of love compatibility testing people take.
They include the Enneagram Type Compatibility Theory; the Myers-Briggs model; and last, but certainly not least, Zodiac compatibility.
If you are unfamiliar with these testing methods, we’ll tell you a little about each one and how it can measure if your love story is meant to be!
Love Compatibility #1 – Enneagram
The Enneagram is a system of nine interrelated personality types that focuses on our fundamental motives, anxieties, and beliefs. It provides a kaleidoscopic, forensic view into the actions and psychological patterns that motivate our decision-making.
Identifying your Enneagram type may help you learn to self-manage and connect to others with compassion due to the Enneagram system’s heightened awareness of our limits, sensitivities, and faults.
So, how does knowing your Enneagram type factor into love compatibility? Your love relationship may benefit from doing Enneagram work since it will shed some light on its inner workings and provide suggestions for improving it.
Love Compatibility #2 – Myers-Briggs
Personality, strengths, and preferences can be determined through the use of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), a self-report assessment made up of 16 distinct personality types.
Can Myers-Briggs predict your love compatibility with others? Sort of–it’s not a black-and-white issue, but some gray areas can help you figure out who you will mesh with more based on your personality types. Those with similar traits are more likely to get along and understand one another, but they also frequently share many of the same weaknesses.
Using their research into Carl Jung’s idea of personality types, Isabel Myers and her mother, Katherine Briggs, created the questionnaire. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) inventory is now among the most popular personality tests across the globe.
Love Compatibility #3 – Astrology
Astrological compatibility literally relies on the stars to see if you and your partner will go the distance. It factors in the sun and moon to get a feel for what the future holds for your relationship.
You can learn a lot about yourself and the people you connect with from what your zodiac sign reveals about your character and communication styles. And it’s not only an indicator of love compatibility between two signs; it could also tell you whether you’ll get along or if you’ll always be at odds.
To determine if you’re compatible with another star sign, you’ll have to create birth charts, one for you and one for your significant other, and then consult a zodiac pairing chart to see if you align romantically or will butt heads.
