There’s something in astrology called ‘the sextile aspect.’ Now, before you go there–get your head out of the gutter! No, this doesn’t refer to the frequency in which an individual prefers to have you know what. Imagine a circle–a full three hundred and sixty degrees. Every sign is represented by a planet, and every planet has a place on this circle. An ‘aspect’ describes a specific distance between each of these planets. Each planet–or sign–is separated by thirty degrees.
Certain aspects represent a significance in the relationship between those two signs and one of those is the sextile aspects, signs ruled by planets that are separated by sixty degrees, like Mercury–the ruler of Virgo–and Pluto–the ruler of Scorpio. Every sign in the Zodiac will have a sextile aspect with two other signs. Virgo, you have a sextile aspect with Cancers and Scorpios, and Scorpios, you have a sextile aspect with Capricorn and Virgo.
So how do you figure out which ones your sign may share this aspect with? Another way to think about this: Virgo (born between August 23rd and September 22nd) and Scorpio (born between October 23rd and November 21st) are separated by Libra (born between September 23rd and October 22nd). So skip over one sun sign, forward or backward in the time of the year, and you will discover who you share the sextile aspect of.
Signs who share this aspect, like you two, Virgo and Scorpio, have a unique bond, represented by ease and harmony. Most people who know both of you individually might assume that you two will not get along. Your temperaments are drastically different, yet miraculously, instead of inhibiting or suppressing one another, with a little of effort, your differences will encourage the two of you to grow. Let’s see how this works in friendship and love.
Virgo
Although your symbol is the Virgin, Virgo, historically you’re represented by the goddess of wheat and agriculture, which symbolizes your deep-rooted groundedness, appropriate since you’re an earth sign.
You’re detail-oriented and constantly aim to improve yourself in everything you do, be it work, friendship, or love. Your brain works a bit like a computer.
You have a great memory and retain external information easily, something that can benefit your progression toward your goals and hinder your relationships when your ruminating becomes obsessive.
However, you’re a people pleaser by nature, someone who craves connection with others and always aims to help the ones they love.
Scorpio
You are quite the misunderstood sign, Scorpio. Although you’re a water sign, your intensity and passion drives your personality and anyone with an interest in astrology will be surprised to discover that you’re not a fire sign.
You can come off guarded and abrasive to people who don’t know you, but those you allow in your life know that you feel things deeply and that you’re actually very in tune with your emotions.
However, like your symbol, the scorpion, you won’t hesitate to lash out if you’re shoved into a corner. You have quite the sting, and when it comes to people who disrespect or wrong you, vengeance is probably your middle name.
You’re also the sign most often associated with physical intimacy, and although you crave physical closeness, emotional connections are just as important.
Virgo and Scorpio in Friendship
I first met Ashely when I was thirteen. She was intense, loud, aggressive, pretty much the exact opposite of my more introverted, shy personality. And yet, for whatever reason, we not only ended up in the same friend group but now, twenty years later, I consider her more than just my best friend. She’s the sister I never had.
To this day, people from high school scratch their heads when they learn we’re still friends. I’m much more of a people pleaser, my kindness is occasionally taken advantage of.
Ashely? Rumor has it that even two decades later, some people are still afraid of her. Just kidding, Ash, but not really.
She drags me out of my comfort zone, teaching me how to not care what people think and how to stand up for herself, and well, I’d like to hope that I’ve taught her how to open her heart and lower her guard to people she may not have even given a chance to before.
Friend Date: Mani/Pedi or Streaking on the Beach at Midnight?
Scorpios and Virgos are both mutable signs, meaning they’re flexible, enjoy going with the flow, and aren’t afraid of adventure… or trouble. There was a reason the only time I was sent to the principal’s office in high school, Ashley was by my side. Scorpios encourage Virgos to stand up for themselves, while Virgos inspire Scorpios to try new things.
This combination can lead to some fun interactions between the two of you (it did for me at least). You both enjoy being out in the world and sharing new experiences, but you two can also become overwhelmed by too much stimulus which will lead both of you to sit back and observe the world around you.
This is someone you can sit in silence with and have just as much fun as when you’re skinny dipping on the beach (we still never found your bra, huh, Ash?)
Friend-Fection: Keep It on the Dl or Text ‘Love Ya Biatch?’
Your conversations will be full of interesting topics. You both will question things. Virgo, because you enjoy learning about new things; Scorpio, because you’re skeptical of how things and people work.
You share a dry sense of humor stemming from your critical mindset of the world around you. When it comes to arguments, Virgo will probably light the flame, needing to express their thoughts, and Scorpio will burn the house down.
If you fight, it will be an intense one, but you both value your friendship enough to learn how to forgive and move on, Scorpio admiring Virgo’s perfectionist nature and Virgo eager to adopt some of Scorpio’s passion.
Dating Advice: Send His Name or Send His Social?
I can say this about my friendship with Ms. Ashley. If I ever had to bury a body, she’d be the one I’d call. Although chances are, she’d be the one calling me. KIDDING. Kind of.
You both fall hard when it comes to love, your heart driving both of your actions. If things go wrong in a relationship, I hope for your partner’s sake, Scorpio, that they didn’t wrong you too badly, like lie or cheat.
Because if they do, the love you felt for them can just as easily switch to revenge. Meanwhile, you, Virgo, will revert to logic to understand why something didn’t pan out, and it can be exhausting constantly analyzing what happened.
You will tell each other everything about your partner and learn a thing or two from your friend’s unique perspective. Scorpio will help you, Virgo, alleviate some of the self-blame, and you, Virgo, will help Scorpio soften some of their anger.
Virgo and Scorpio in Love
Once you two get to the point where you’re saying the ‘L’ word, you’ll discover that love isn’t the word you’ll use. Loyalty will be. Trust is everything to you two, and you seek relationships where you feel understood, like you can express yourself without fear of judgment.
Virgo, because you’re an overthinker, some people might mistake you as someone who would be rigid and stiff when it comes to love. You’re quite the opposite, however. You crave sensuality and it will be Scorpio, who embraces their natural passion, who will draw it out of you.
The First Date: Roses or KFC?
There will be an instant comfort between the two of you. Your date could go one of two ways. A nice dinner at a quiet restaurant or a spontaneous adventure–either way, the conversation between you two will be charged, deep, and passionate.
If there’s even the slightest physical attraction between you two, you won’t be able to take your eyes off one another. In between your words will be an electricity lighting your energy on fire. It will be a great first date. Good luck holding out.
Love Language Do’s and Don’ts: A Dealbreaker?
It’s always the love language that will draw up any potential problems in your relationship because this is where you two learn how to communicate in your relationship. And you may have to step outside of your comfort zone to reassure your partner in a way that suits them better than you.
So is the case here. Virgo, words of reassurance are everything to you, while Scorpio, you’re all about quality time.
Fortunately, you both share a passion for physical touch, so this may be the first place you learn how to express yourself. Scorpio, you can be a bit more passive-aggressive than Virgo in your arguments, and you may shut down if you get frustrated by Virgo’s incessant need to break things down.
This can backfire because if Virgo doesn’t feel heard, they will over-talk before shutting down. And neither of you is the kind of person who will sweep things under the rug. You’ll need to talk about it, eventually.
The trick here? When Virgo starts talking about concerns, Scorpio, make sure you listen and respond accordingly. But Scorpio, keep in mind: you will feel things intensely, often more so than Virgo, and you may need a second alone to process things before talking with Virgo.
Don’t be afraid to tell them you need some time to process it before you convey how you feel. If you two can do that, then it will get easier and your relationship that much better.
Sexy Time: Slow and Steady or Chompin’ at the Bit?
There will be no problems here between you two. If anything, Virgo, you’ll enjoy learning new things from Scorpio, and Scorpio, once they figure out what you like, will go out of the way to make sure you’re pleased.
You’re both people pleasers–and adventurous– and you’ll find that you may spend more time without clothes on, your comfort with one another solidifying your connection.
The Verdict?
As friends, there’s no question here. This friendship is one of the best. From experience, my Scorpio Ashley is my soul sister, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
When it comes love, your potential for success is just as strong. Scorpio, if you can learn to tell Virgo you need a moment to process your feelings before talking about them, and Virgo, you learn how to give Scorpio this space, your relationship will improve and be bound for the long run.
