What is our process for evaluating the performance as a whole of the Fairytrail dating app? Our review focused on six primary aspects, and we assigned a distinct score to each of the main categories and calculated the Fairytrail rating by taking an average of those scores.

Ease of Use 
Signing up for a dating profile on Fairytrail was easy but more time-consuming than most other dating app registrations. We had no trouble navigating the app, and the interface’s aesthetic is quite pleasing! Both the Apple and Google Play Stores rate the software well. The only complaints have to do with the in-app purchases that are required to unlock the full functionality of the dating app.
Features 
There is not much to write home about when it comes to special features on the Fairytrail dating app–other than a few special perks that are actually outside the app, called “Stories” and a “Campfire Community” Facebook group, you’re not going to be wowed by the benefits when it comes to features. Even the ones you do get with a premium membership are run-of-the-mill, and the fun ones cost extra; you don’t get them with an upgraded subscription.
Cost
The Fairytrail dating app will cost you if you want to get anything out of it–whether it’s a romantic connection or a traveling buddy, you have to pay to play. Even though it’s free to download and sign-up for a dating profile, you’ll have to pay a one-time charge of $2.99 to see more than five potential matches.
The creators use the one-time charge as a kind of screening process to weed out fake profiles with the reasoning of “who is going to pay money to create a troll account on a dating app” when you can do it for free on other platforms–which makes sense–we think it’s a little unfair to users. But that’s not the only reason it received a low score in this category!
The premium membership plans are pricey, and only one month is available. The cheapest plan is $13.99 a month, and while that’s not unreasonable, it can add up over a year. Along with premium memberships, there are add-ons members can purchase for additional matches called “Picks,” which will run you anywhere from $1.99 to $13.99, and a “Truth Serum” feature for $8.99. Putting all these costs together is a high-than-usual expense for a dating app.
Match Quality
It’s hardly surprising that Fairytrail, a dating app for wanderers, bases its matches on shared interests in exotic locales, and a mutual “Like” in the Discover area is the first step in the matching process. But that won’t enable the chat feature! Instead, you and your potential companion will be given the same set of 12 activities to choose from.
You have free rein to pick any five from that lot–you can also buy “Picks” separately if you find yourself wanting more choices. BTW, the chat feature is still locked at this point. You will be immediately unpaired if your match doesn’t select a minimum of one of the same journeys that you did. Therefore, the likelihood of sharing at least one adventure increases as one buys more “Picks.”
Avoiding the “travel matching” requirement is possible, but not without a catch–you can disable trip matching in the “edit profile” section. It will set “Anywhere” as the default option for adventures, and if the other person you’re interested in has the option disabled, you’ll be matched. Once you’ve matched, either from a specific location or by default, you’ll be able to communicate with each other via messages and video chat.
We didn’t match with anyone, so we can’t vouch for the match quality, but there did seem to be some interesting people on there, so we’ll give Fairytrail the benefit of the doubt.
Safety and Security
At Fairytrail, ensuring user safety is of utmost importance. To achieve this, they provide various measures such as video verification of profiles and background checks. These screenings include national criminal records checks, sex offender registry checks, verification of identity, global watchlist checks, and county criminal records checks.
These checks will cost extra if you want to travel with someone you matched with, but it is worth it–better safe than sorry!
Customer Service
Fairytrail’s customer service looks to be little more than email requests (support@fairytrail.app, team@fairytrail.app) and a Frequently Asked Questions page. If you send an email, the admins say they’ll get back to you within three to five business days, which is not ideal! The FAQ page does seem pretty thorough, so the app has that working in its favor.

You can only engage in Fairytrail on your mobile device. We joined up using an iPhone X to do this review, although you can also join on an Android device. Now, pick the “Fairytrail” character that best defines you–your choices are displayed in a dropdown menu, and you can choose the one that most suits you!
Step 5: Upload 3 Profile Pictures
Here is where you’ll show off your physical appearance with not one but three profile photos. They even give you some tips on picking an attractive pic! You can only upload photos stored on your device, so make sure you have some on your phone!
Step 6: Finish Creating Your Account
You’re almost done! Choose how you want to sign in to your account, whether it’s with Apple, Google, or your email.
Step 7: Hit the Trail!
You’re all set and can now begin searching for matches on the Fairytrail dating app!
