We liked that members could join for one week for only $14.99 to test out the paid features without committing to a longer period.
Match Quality
We liked the variety of matches we discovered using SALT and felt the basic search filters (age, location, and gender) yielded satisfactory results. While examining daily matches for our SALT review, we discovered a unique feature called “People I’ve Seen,” where you can review all the profiles you swipe through, including members who liked and didn’t like. It allows you to upgrade a “skip” to a “like.”
Safety and Security
SALT uses an encrypted connection to ensure its members’ private information is stowed away safely. It’s never shared with other parties outside the SALT dating app. SALT also gives its members privacy controls that allow them to be seen only by profiles they like to sidestep any unwanted advances. And there are controls where members can report or block profiles they feel aren’t on the up and up, not to mention selfie verification to ensure all new members are legit users.

Do Memberships Renew Automatically?
No matter which SALT membership you choose, your plan is set to automatically renew itself once it comes to the end of its term. Auto-renewal ensures continuous access to your premium features. You don’t have to deal with going back into your account manually and reentering payment information to keep your membership plan going. It’s done automatically through continuous billing.
However, you may not want your account to automatically re-up, so you must turn off the auto-renewal feature in your account settings. This will help you avoid being automatically charged for a new plan. This is how you cancel your membership plan, though it won’t be immediately. The plan won’t re-up, so there is time remaining where you could use SALT until the membership comes to an end.

We’re not sure how many Christian singles are signed up at SALT or how many are using the app each week. We know there are at least 100,000 active members, but there could be many more. Currently, there aren’t any hard numbers, plus we don’t know the breakdown of men to women either.
The Sign-up Process
We signed up for a free membership at SALT and found that the process took a relatively easy five to ten minutes to complete. If we had spent for the premium membership, choosing the right plan and entering payment information would have drawn the process out to fifteen minutes total.
Follow the step-by-step instructions below to get an idea of what the SALT registration process entails. Overall, signing up for a new account at SALT was enjoyable and felt more manageable than registering at other dating apps.
Step 1: Download the SALT Dating App
The first step in becoming a SALT member is downloading the mobile app from either Google Play or the App Store. You’re given the option of creating an account using Google or Facebook and your personal email address.
Ultimately, signing up with Facebook or Google will save you some time because much of your information will transfer automatically. If you register using your email, you’ll see a confirmation code that needs to be sent back to SALT to ensure a secure sign-in.
Step 2: Complete Login Information
Enter your email address and create a unique password. These terms will be used for logging in to your new SALT account.

Step 3: Answer Some Basic Questions
There are several questions you have to answer before using your free account. One is your username, but the next three are your baseline search terms so other members can search for your account using location, gender, and age.
Step 4: Describe Your Faith
In the next step, you can discuss your faith and beliefs by providing a written statement. Because more opportunities exist to express your faith in your profile, this section can be kept succinct and to the point.
Step 5: Complete Selfie Verification
This was an exciting part of the registration process at SALT. When you tap “Start Selfie Verification,” you complete the commands asked, like turning your head left or right and blinking. This step ensures that the profile photo you post to SALT matches your identity.
Step 6: Edit Your SALT Profile
Tap the house icon on the footer menu to work on your SALT profile, including adding new photos and bio information. Select the pencil icon next to your profile photo space, add the information you wish other singles to see, and tap “Save” to update the changes.
Step 7: Become a Premium Member of SALT
On the same menu page under the house icon, you’ll find the membership plans and paid benefits that members can purchase to up their game, like Profile Highlights and personalized Intros.

Step 8: Adjust Your Search Preferences
To find Christian singles who are the right age, have the correct gender, and are located nearby, SALT members can set their search preferences to capture these three criteria. In this menu, you can also adjust privacy settings, push notifications, and your profile visibility.
Once your terms and settings are adjusted to where you want them, tab the back arrow, and your match results will align with the criteria set on this menu.
Step 9: View Members’ SALT Profiles
As a free member of SALT, you can view profiles that align with the search terms and parameters you set up. View SALT members by clicking on the people icon in the footer menu.
You can “like” profiles by tapping the heart icon or “skip” them by tapping the arrow icon. Free members also get one free Intro per day (premium members get 10), and you can scroll downward to view additional information and photos below each member’s primary profile photo, name, age, and location.
There’s another feature (People I’ve Seen) where you can view all members you’ve swiped through, both “likes” and “skips.” If you accidentally “skipped” a profile, you can still send a “like,” but you cannot “skip” any members you’ve already “liked.”
Step 10: Contact Customer Service
There are two ways to contact the customer service center if issues or problems arise during your SALT experience. These are the FAQ pages and the direct messaging (either with a bot or a real customer service member).
- FAQ Center – Tap on the gear icon and tap “FAQ” to access the FAQ center. Here, you’ll find various menus with helpful links to common questions and concerns that SALT members have experienced.
